Zach spent M-Th this week trying out for a Freshman Summer Basketball team. I was really confused about how it worked (it's hard to get the scoop from a 14 year old who just knows he has to pay some money and show up and play basketball for four days!). When he called for me to pick him up yesterday I was so excited to hear if he had made it. I really think I take these types of things more serious than my kids do. Anyway, he made it along with 9 other kids (most of them are his friends). He was really happy. This means now that he'll participate in two different camps this summer, practice and I think he'll play in a couple of tournaments. The coaches will basically groom them and then when they have tryouts in the Fall for the Freshman team, they'll know about these 10 kids and know who they want on the team. It's not a guarantee that they will make it but I think it means they all have a great chance. One of Zach's goals for high school is to play on the Basketball team. We hope he can achieve that dream and this is a good way to start. (He'd also like to play on the baseball team and where his superleague coach is the HS coach--that helps!). After his tryout, he had baseball practice and Tanner had a game (that was THE most hectic evening I've had, I'll spare the details!). Greg was out of the mix because he had a Sheriff's Office Awards Banquet--I had to miss because of the things going on in the family, so he brought Kaden with him! (Kaden thought that was cool!). Once we all were home, we celebrated Zach's good news with an ice cream party! Way to go Zach! We love you!
