Tonight was one of those nights where you really want to be two places at one time. Zach had a double header at Sky View High School in Smithfield (North end of the valley) and Tanner had a game in Hyrum right at the same time. Tanner only has one more game and Zach has more--but we knew Zach would probably pitch--oh but then again so could Tanner! With one car we couldn't really go separate ways--so Grandpa Butler went to Tanner's game and we went to Zach's. Dad was so awesome to drive Tanner up to Smithfield hoping to see a little of Zach's game too, but it ended right as he walked up the hill! (I only have a picture from Zach's game--we'll get more of Tanner on Friday)
Tanner played short stop in his game and then in the last inning, there were a couple on base and they pulled him in to pitch the last two outs and he struck them both out (would have loved to have seen that!). Dad did some video taping so we'll probably see that on tape. He hit a triple, and two singles. He played a great game and one of his teammates hit a "walk off" home run to win the game. His last regular season game will be on Friday....not sure if they will play in a tournament, but I think so. Oh, just a little side note---on Saturday we got a call from a Logan Superleague team that Tanner played against this year (just happened to be the team he hit a home run against) and they wanted him to join them to play in a few tournaments in July and August. We turned them down just because we have a lot going on and adding those trips in the mix would really complicate things. He was happy that they wanted him to play with them and we know he would have had a great time playing more baseball.
Zach pitched his first game. He pitched a great game and did well at the plate. They ended up losing 3-2 in the last inning (a few errors in the field). Their second game was a lot different...they won 13-0. Zach had a couple great hits and played first base the second game. He got an out in a double play and also in the first game picked someone off on first base--way to go Zach and Tanner!
