4A State Tournament

Mountain Crest traveled down to Kearns to play in the state tournament on Monday, May 20th.  They played Cyprus High School.  It rained a little that day so the games got postponed all day long--the first game didn't end up starting until 1:30 ish and that pushed all the other games back.  Greg drove a car load (Zach, Jaxson Webb, Kaden, Kaden Bowler, Landon Jenson, Mason Bowler and Brynn) down early so they could watch the Logan High game that was before ours.  It was supposed to start at 1:30 but didn't start until 5:30!  Our game was supposed to start at 4:30 and didn't start until 8:50!  It as a late night!  Mountain Crest was playing great--Ben Weese was pitching and Tanner got to start at 2nd base :-)  We were up 4-1 in the third inning and then I don't remember exactly which inning it was bottom of 3, 4 or 5, they started really hitting Benny and it was soon 4-3, then 4-4.  UGH.  Tanner had a great hit--he got to 2nd on a fielder's choice.  We had runners on 3rd and 2nd and then Luke or Ampy scored them (I don't remember all of the details).  They brought Nick in to pitch and he did well, but his first innng they really started hitting him and they got a bunch of runs.  The final score was 8-4 Cyprus.  We lost--darn!  It was really exciting that Tanner got to start and play in a State tournament game in Kearns.  He had a great season and is actually happy to have it over (some politics and team mates made it a not so great year) but next year should be awesome!  On the way home from the game, Tanner got sick on the bus a few times.  Poor kid.  He had told me when he was leaving that he didn't feel good.  I didn't know what to tell him because I was riding with the Weese's and our car was full.  I just thought if he had a drink and rested he'd be okay.  WRONG!  Greg met him at MC and brought him home and he was sick all night long.  It was a rough night.  We all slept in the next day (we didn't get home until 2 am).  It was a fun season--fun to see Tanner start some Varsity games and fun to watch him play JV.  Now he has been asked to try out for a Northern Utah team.  He tries out on Wednesday and then Saturday.  The team will be traveling to tournaments and next year traveling to Alaska--wow!  He is really trying to decide if he wants to do this...he doesn't want baseball to rule his summer, but he is happy to have been asked to try out!  Decisions, decisions!  He will also be playing for the Blacksmith Fork Trappers on both an A and the AA team.  We will be traveling to Southern California in July for a tournament there.  It will be a fun time!!

Kearns has an amazing field

Tanner playing 2nd base

Tanner up at bat--he hit a single that ended up being a double when the right fielder threw the ball to 3rd base.  Tanner's hit went right down the first base line!  Awesome!
