Mountain Crest Baseball

It is hard to believe the baseball season is almost over.  This is the last week of regular season games and then the playoffs and state.  The Mustangs  had a slow start but seem to have figured things out a little bit.  It has been a very interesting year--there are seven Seniors on the team and let's just say that the majority of them (4/7) are not getting the playing time they think they should be getting and 2/7 of them are getting more playing time than they should be getting!  ha  There is quite the buzz around the ball park among the parents/fans about how things could be different if different kids were playing (just for the record, the Juniors are much better than the Seniors--with the exception of one Senior who deserves his starting position).  So--with all of that said--it has been an interesting year.  Tanner has had the opportunity to start a few Varsity games.  He typically plays 2nd base when he is in.  He had one game against Roy when he went 3/3 at the plate which is awesome.  Of course, we were not at that game--and it made the paper!  As a Sophomore he is very lucky to be getting the Varsity time he has (although many parents think he should be starting at 2nd base every game).  He does play short stop or 2nd base in all of the JV games.  He has had a fun season and it has been a great learning experience about team work and how to treat your team mates.  There have been a few occasions when a few Seniors have used their position to "bully" up on the younger team mates--mostly because they are not playing and the younger kids are--oh well!  Tanner is a great kid and takes it all in stride and moves on. I am not good at taking pictures but I did capture a few on Saturday when the JV team played a double header against Stansbury.
