Zach's team played two games today. Two great games! The first one we won 9-0. It was an interesting game--the other team only had 9 players. In the top of the 4th inning, one of their players was called out on first--their team didn't agree and neither did the player, he made some "obscene gestures" at the ump and was ejected. That left the team with only 8 players and they had to forfeit. It was nice to end the game early--leaving us a little less than two hours before playing in the Championship game at 5:00. Zach had a great game--he put down the best bunt down the 3rd base line halfway between home and third...moved a runner and he got on first. Had some catches in left field. We played the other Cache Valley team (the 14 year olds) for the State Pony Championship. They played a great game....we were up 4-0, then it tied 4-4, then we got 4 more runs 8-4, then they got 4 runs--8-8, then one of their players hit a grand slam 12-8. With one more at bat for each of us--they made one more run 13-8 and our last ups we got a run---so the final score was 13-9. It was too bad to lose, but really an okay thing!! If we would have won, we would have traveled down again tomorrow to play the same team again and try to beat them again since it was a double elimination tournament and they hadn't lost a game yet. The team got 2nd place trophies and we are now staying home! It's a good thing because Denise is headed to Girl's Camp on Wednesday and Greg has to get back to work! Zach will be playing in another tournament Friday and Saturday in Centerville.
