Summer Update

Tanner is playing on two Trappers teams this year.  For the summer months, the Mountain Crest baseball team is called the Blacksmith Fork Trappers (I am not really sure of the reason why, but all other teams go by their high school name!).  Anyway, there are four legion teams.  A 'B' team is for the incoming Freshman, two 'A' teams for incoming Juniors and Sophomores and then the 'AA' team for incoming Seniors and those who would be on the Varsity team.  Tanner is on the Blue 'A' team and on the 'AA' team!  He is playing so many ball games!!  On the Blue team he plays primarily shortstop.  On the 'AA' team he has been playing 2nd base.  It has been good for him to learn a new position because if he wants to play any Varsity time next year, he will have to play somewhere else--there is already a shortstop for the next two years :-).  Tanner has been having fun and is becoming quite social hanging out with all of his Junior friends.  (which is nice for me because they all drive and I don't have to go and pick him up all the time!).  The 'AA' team is traveling to Lewiston, Idaho next week for a tournament.  We just decided today that it will be a road trip for Greg, Tanner and Kaden.  I have a lot of work to catch up on and Zach is starting a new job so not a good time to leave.  We all know what Brynn's choice will be----stay home and play with her friends.

Tanner also took Driver's Ed this summer--the first two weeks from 7 am to 10 am.  He didn't like getting up early, but I think he liked getting it over with.  He has a practice drive on Monday, July 2nd and then he signs up to take his test.  Then all he has to do is go in on his birthday and get his license!  Crazy--we'll have two teenage drivers to worry about.

Zach has kept busy looking for a job and being with his friends!  He started working very part time at All About Kids to help with their Summer Camp and No Napper groups on field trips.  He has really been having fun and I'm sure those kids are having fun with a "boy teacher".  He only gets about 10 hours or less with that job so he is hoping to find out on a more steady job at Icon this week.  He will be working on the machines--he will basically work out for his shift!!  His hours will be 5-10 pm M-Th and 1-4 on Fridays.  I was afraid those hours would infringe on his "hang out" time, but I think he is finally learning that he needs to work to earn any money!  He is also playing on a softball team with his buddies and has been having a great time doing that.

I just finished Girl's Camp yesterday---yea!  I was called to be the Camp Director in January and have stressed about it ever since.  I'm so glad it is over.  I think it went well and the girl's had a great time.  I hope they did--that is all that matters--that they had fun, learned something and felt something.  It was a fun group of girls--but I'm still happy it is over....now on to the Trek that Greg, Zach, Tanner and I are going on July 18-21.
