Summer is Dwindling Down

Every year I hate it when August rolls around! It is so depressing to me that summer is coming to an end and school is starting! I really enjoy the summer pace of life we have (still busy during the baseball season, but I love it!). I don't miss homework, getting up early, making lunches and paying lunch money, worrying about grades, etc. I love staying up late, sleeping in a little later (well, I don't always get to, but I do let my kids!),watching baseball games, having ice cream treats, having the kids help more with chores, taking afternoon naps (me, not the kids ha!), eating light meals that don't require using the oven, and letting the kids play, play, play (after their work is done), etc. I enjoy walking up the street to get Brynn to come home at 9:00 pm and visiting with the neighbors for another hour--that's what I like about summer! School starts here on August 25th--sad day! Schedules have been mailed home for Zach and Tanner and they are happy about their teachers, classes and friends who will be in their classes. Kaden will get his schedule on Tuesday at his registration. I've paid all the fees (hey what is up with free public education anyway??) so we are ready in that aspect. I've bought some school supplies but probably not what they all need (ha) and we do need to pick up a few pairs of shoes and clothes for the boys. Brynn and I went shopping for a few things a couple of weeks ago so I think she is okay. Once we get back into the routine for school, I am okay with it! ha It just takes me a little while to adjust to changes!
We will be experiencing a different fall than we are used to. The first week of August, Zach declared that he was going to be playing football this year! Wow--where does that come from? He has never played football--rec or at school. He said that one of the coaches called him and told him to come and give it a shot! So, he did and he liked it. Nice. So this year, we will be taking in a few football games at the high school. It will be fun--Zach has some natural abilities so I think he'll be able to hang okay (but secretly, I won't mind if he sits the bench most of the time...sh!). He has enjoyed all the workouts -- even though they are tough!

I have mixed feelings--I love the laziness and carefreeness (is that even a word?) of summer, but I'm kind of ready to get back to a schedule. Yet...with that schedule comes homework, grades, lunches, etc. So yeah, mixed feelings. :) Wow--football?!?! That's crazy!! I'm sure he'll do really well!
