Random Updates

I don't have any pictures to add to this post today--I need to get out and take some fun fall pictures before it's over (I might be too late). I noticed the other day that the beautiful colors in the canyon are already starting to turn drab and dreary in some areas. It just doesn't stay around too long!

How many times have I said that baseball is over on this blog? I think I would say it was over and then there was Tanner's tournament and All Star team or Zach's tournament. Then Zach played on a Fall team and he has been practicing a couple times a week with the Mountain Crest baseball team. Well, I think we can officially say that we are done playing baseball tomorrow-Wed, October 15th! That is the last day of Zach's practices with Mountain Crest. They did cancel two of his games in the Fall league that have not been rescheduled and I don't think they will so I think we are safe to say it's over.

Greg started swing shift this week. This is the worst shift on the family. He works from 2 pm - 10 pm and really doesn't see the kids much at all. I am pretty much a single mom--although he can help with rides to and from places when he can. He is still trying to get on a normal sleeping pattern. He has been staying up all night and sleeping during the day. Graveyard is a great shift for the family--just not on Greg!! He has such a hard time getting enough sleep and staying on a schedule. Hopefully in a few days he will be back to normal.

Tanner's hockey is in full swing. He has his first game on November 1st against Park City. Half of his age group are going to Vernal to play that weekend. Those who chose not to go are staying here to play. When I went to his first practice, I remembered how much I love watching him play and look forward to this season.

It is midterm week at Utah State--YEAH! I can't believe it's halfway over. I am still counting down the days to December 10th when I finish up this semester. My classes are keeping me very busy this semester, but things are going okay. I still don't know what I got on that first paper/presentation in my parenting class. Maybe I'll change my mind on how things are going when I get that back. I love my Braille class and thankfully it is one that I can work ahead on. I think I'm caught up through the middle of November as of today. I'm studying this week for a midterm exam tomorrow in my other class. Wish me luck! Studying for tests is totally different than when I was single...I just can't stop and study until it's really late at night (there is always something else to be doing).

Kaden has gotten over the Cubs loss--guess who he is rooting for now? NOT the Dodgers!! He is now pulling for the Phillies and the Rays. It has been fun to have a play off game on every day. Last night I was watching the Phillies/Dodgers game while working out at the gym. I couldn't believe that the Phillies had hit two two run homeruns in one inning and were now in the lead. I thought the Dodgers were going to win. I hurried home to see if the kids were watching and they were all doing what I told them to--imagine that! Brynn was asleep, Tanner was asleep and Kaden was in his room "trying" to sleep....Zach was working on the computer. The game wasn't even on! I was shocked! I told Kaden that the Phillies were ahead and let him watch the rest of the game. It was fun!

I guess that leaves an update on Brynn...she is loving first grade and has made a lot of new friends. She likes to have friends over to our house to play. She really loves Fridays when I can go in and help in her class. I enjoy being able to do that this year. I'm trying really hard to savor this time--she is getting big and it has hit me recently that the early childhood years are coming to an end at our house! I love the ages that my kids are now, but as I mentioned when school started, it's just different not having little ones around.

We are getting excited for Halloween-- Kaden is going to be Derrick Lee again and Brynn is going to be a witch. Tanner isn't sure what he'll be doing this year and Zach will have something planned with his friends. Greg will be working! We will be keeping it simple this year--the younger two are out of school that day but there is a carnival at their school that evening. We'll go to that (I get to volunteer) and then trick or treat around the neighborhood.

We'll post some pictures next time---I hate to say nothing exciting is going on here--but, really nothing is. We are busy all the time, but it's not always "picture worthy"!

I definitely miss the Fall season and the beauty of the trees changing colors in Sardine Canyon. Trees don't change much here--in fact most of them have leaves on a majority of the winter and the leaves fall off in early spring as the new ones come in . . . weird huh? Tell everyone hello.

Can't believe your "in school"! I don't think I even remember HOW to study-- much less fit it in between making grilled cheese and wiping bums! (Then again.. even before kids.. education wasn't my forte..) So good for you! Braille stresses me out.. very impressive you're learning it. I don't think we're in the same dinner group this month.. but maybe I'll see you at the big 'swap' next week-- (there's something very drug-dealy about the way we meet in the parking lot.) Enjoyed your chimichangas!
