Christmas 2011

This year a few in the family kept saying "it just doesn't feel like Christmas" this year. It is hard when there isn't much snow and sometimes it just comes so fast. I tried to do the normal traditional things to help them out--but I still think it came and went without really feeling like it had been here. School went until December 21st this year....so our break started on December 22nd and they go back to school on January 3rd. The first two days of break were pretty mellow--just getting a few things done, nothing stressful--hanging with friends, etc.

Christmas Eve was spent getting dinner and Christmas breakfast ready--laundry done and the house in order while the boys played video games and hung out. While working on the soup, however, the pipe under the kitchen sink cracked---NICE! Greg made a quick run to Home Depot and had that fixed. (thankfully) We went over to my parents house in Mendon for the evening and enjoyed dinner, fun and visiting there with my sister and her family and my parents.

The kids got up around 7 on Christmas morning. We had wondered what we would do as far as gifts go and opening them and getting to church by 9:30. Turned out, we were able to do Santa stuff, open gifts, have breakfast and get to church by 9:40ish with no problem. When we got home, the kids changed back into comfy clothes and a few of us took a nap. (I was so tired) We headed back to my parents house that afternoon for dinner and hanging out.

The kids were spoiled again as usual this year! Zach is getting a Letterman's jacket (that isn't here yet) and he got some nice clothes, shoes, baseball things, etc. Tanner got an iTouch, baseball hat, baseball gloves, Cardinals shirt, etc. Kaden got an iTough, Cubs shirt, Cubs phi ten, Kinect game, etc. Brynn got an American Girl Doll (w/glasses), webkinz, art projects, clothes, etc. They were all happy with their gifts and had a great day.
