"It Is What It Is and You Just Keep Going"

Today I had the opportunity to attend the American Mothers' Mini Conference in our Stake Center. The theme was "It Will All Work Out in the Wash". I thought it was a great theme--so often as mothers we feel overwhelmed (as we do with laundry) or that we make mistakes that we can never go back and fix. The keynote speaker was Rosemary M. Wixom who is the Primary General President--she was a great speaker. She mentioned that her mother who is 92 had gone through so much in her life--trials, joys, sorrows, etc. She asked her how she did it and her response was, "it is what it is and you just keep going". I love that---when we feel like we aren't the mother we wanted to be or things are tough--we just need to keep on going. There are often many challenges in life with raising kids, building relationships with people, and strengthening our relationship with our spouse. We can't let the tough times bring us down or discourage us--we need to just get up and keep going. While I was sitting there listening--I thought--hmm, sometimes things don't come out in the wash---but with the help of our Savior, it will all work out in the wash. We are "enough" (as another speaker, Sister Weese mentioned)-- as mother's we just do our best and it will all work out. I love being a mom, I love my kids and although I've made and will continue to make mistakes as a mother---I know that if I'm doing my best--it will all work out!! I'm so glad that I went to the conference today and I look forward to going again next time where I can learn how to strengthen my relationships with my family.

Thanks for this post! It helps me (even though I'm not applying it to motherhood).

Well, I hope I will let it help me. Sometimes I "know" stuff... I just don't "live" it!
