A few months ago, Greg called and said he had some training to go to in Vegas and that I should go along with him for a little getaway. I hurried and wrote it in my planner before anything else got scheduled! Greg asked his parents if they'd like to come up and stay with the kids for a few days and they said they would. We haven't had many opportunities to get away, just the two of us. A few overnighters here and there and then the Trek with the youth a few years ago--so it was a much deserved break. I think we were both a little nervous to leave the kids--as funny as that sounds. Not that they are "needy" or that Greg's parents are not competent--I can't really explain it. It is just hard to leave the kids. The boys didn't seem to mind too much, I think secretly they couldn't wait for us to leave. Brynn, on the other hand, gets a little weepy when we are gone (even when just I am gone). We left on Sunday around 11:30 and drove 7 1/2 hours to Vegas. The kids were on their own a little while---they went to church at 2:30 and when they got home, Grandma and Grandpa were there.
Greg had training all day Monday and Tuesday and then a few hours on Wednesday. I was really looking forward to some down time--just taking it easy in the mornings...reading, doing a little work, etc. So while Greg was at training, I hung out in the room enjoying the Today Show, taking my time getting ready for the day, I went to breakfast on my own and went and laid out by the pool (it was SO hot!!). Then as soon as training was over (around 4:30)--we hit the town. We walked The Strip, went to dinner, watched people (there are some crazy people out there folks!!) and enjoyed the atmosphere (well, most of it ha). One night, we drove away from the Strip to see the Temple, visit an outlet mall and then we drove up and down The Strip--that was fun!
Wednesday we headed home around 11:30--stopped for lunch and then stopped to say hi to Greg's parents who were back home in Springville at that time. We got home around 9--the kids were all happy to see us! (that was nice). They had fun with Grandma and Grandpa here and they were good---so that was nice! No problems (not that I expected there to be any!)
