4th Grade Geography Bowl

Kaden is on his class Geography Bowl team. There are 7 kids on the team. The parents were in charge of one study session a week for about 45 minutes. They studied before school three days a week, during lunch recess three days a week and one evening a week for the Bowl competition that was this morning. It was so fun! Mom and Dad came and Greg and I were both able to be there. They asked a question and then each player wrote their answer on a white board. They would then say the correct answer and everyone that wrote that would hold up their board and the team would get points for every correct answer. I really liked how it was done because no one was embarrassed about an answer that may have been way off. Kaden's team--the Explorers--from Mrs. Dattage's class WON!! They did SO awesome--they had 108 points! Now they will play in the South County Geography Bowl on February 24th against the other South Valley elementary schools. WAY TO GO, EXPLORERS!

The rest of his class made posters to cheer them on--it was cute!

All your lunch hour geography terms study sessions paid off--way to go Kaden (and all the moms)! I was wondering how they worked the details of that so kids wouldn't get embarassed when they didn't know the right answers. I'm trying to talk Spencer into trying out for it next year--when he found out you have to miss lunch recess he lost ALL interest!

What a great accomplishment. Geography is one of my worst subjects. Glad someone knows.

I think going out for a Geography might just be my biggest fear in life. Way to start em young, so when they're my age they might actually know where Australia is...
