Another Fun Evening in Salt Lake City

When we got our tickets for the 1st Presidency Devotional, we also tried for tickets for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square concert. We didn't get chosen for the tickets, but my mom used her address and gave us her tickets. We can only get four tickets to this event--Zach had an away game in SL and Brynn stayed with Mom and Dad so Tanner, Kaden, Greg and I went to the concert. It was SO good! It was SO worth the drive down AGAIN and the crazy traffic (there was a lot going on downtown last night!).
Our tickets this time were right down in the front on the right side--right where the General Authorities enter the Conference Center. Greg and the boys ran to the bathroom and I watched L. Tom Perry come in (I was only about 5 rows from him). Then, much to my surprise, while we were waiting for everyone to be seated--in comes the PROPHET! I seriously did not expect to see him at the concert. Everyone stood up and we were right there. It was so cool.
We really enjoyed the concert--there was a Bell Choir and special guests. It really put me more into the Christmas spirit (which has been hard with no snow!). As the concert ended, the people sitting to the end of the row from us all got up and left so it was clear to the isle. Greg and the boys went over and stood RIGHT next to the rope and could have touched the Prophet when he walked out--he waved right at them. I was still pretty close--don't know why I didn't follow them (you know us Moms, we want everyone else to experience the cool stuff!). They all said that was the best part! I'm so glad they had that experience, I know it is one they will never forget. We walked around Temple Square again while the traffic lightened up a bit--it is such a fun place at Christmas time!
We got home late--picked up Zach at his friend's house and Brynn from my parent's house. We woke up this morning to SNOW! Yea! It was really coming down. Zach went to Ogden this morning with his baseball team to listen to Brian Cain who speaks to teams about attitude, getting their head in the game, facing defeat, etc. We worried about him making the drive through the canyon, but he came and went safely! Kaden had an early morning basketball game and is still undefeated (way to go, Kaden!). Then, we hoped Tanner's afternoon hockey game would be canceled due to the weather, but no! Hockey players don't cancel games! We then drove down to Ogden for his game. They played their best game this season, it was so fun to watch-Tanner had a goal and an assist--way to go, Tanner!
We didn't make it to Zach's game. He has been getting a lot of play time and is really having fun. He plays again on Tuesday so we look forward to seeing him play again. We get so wrapped up in his games, we never get any pictures!! Our good friend takes lots though, I'll have to ask her for one or two to post on the blog.
Good news for Kaden...Kaden decided that he wanted to "try out" for his class Geography Bowl team. He got a packet of information to study for about a week and then took the quiz on Friday. He came home with a note and a candy bar--he hadn't even looked at it yet and handed it to me with a big grin on his face. He wanted me to read it first! He was one of the top 6 and will be on his class Geography Bowl team. Now that means he has to study study study with his team until the Geography Bowl the end of January. (and we get to help the team study).
Christmas is getting closer, snow is on the ground, we are hurrying to get everything done and look forward to a long (16 days including the weekends) Christmas Break!

What a neat experience--one that will last a lifetime. I love SLC this time of year--wish we could come and visit sometime. Glad school is out and you can enjoy some time off for a while. I like your background and don't think you are a copycat--it's not like I made the background.

Not quite as grand-eoso as SLC Tabernacle..) but we loved it last year.. so that's our big outing! Any reason to get showered and put on clean jeans is big! Merry merry ho-ho-ho-ness to ya..

PS Could you email me your address? I can't find it--my file got deleted or something. Thanks!
