Greg and Zach made it home today--they had a great time! I am so glad we were able to send them on that trip. They flew in Thursday afternoon--rented a car and went to their hotel (a Marriott near the airport). They went to three games-Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then flew home on Monday. While they were there they spent some time at the CNN Center, Turner Field (of course--they also took a tour of it their first day there), and shopping for Braves garb (Zach saved up money and spent lots of it--he even brought a shirt home for each one of us!). They went to Church with one of Greg's old Sacramento friends who lives back there on Sunday and got to spend some time visiting with her and her family. They had lots to say about the city (they aren't big fans of Atlanta itself), the way the people talk and the culture shock. They are both happy to be home, but had a fabulous trip!
One crazy thing that happened on Saturday before the game. Zach was asked if he wanted to participate in a throwing contest--he didn't really want to but Greg was like--yea, he will do it. So he and another guy had to throw a baseball as hard as they could. The man doing the contest asked each of them if they played baseball--the other guy said, yeah, I played outfield and then they asked Zach and he said, "I'm a pitcher". The other guy went first and threw 55 mph (both Greg and Zach are pretty sure that was not an accurate speed gun). He threw the same speed both throws (they got 2 tries). Zach threw his first one and got 69 mph and then 71 mph. He won a $50 gift certificate to a sporting goods store back there and THEN--they played the recording on the jumbo tron in the middle of the 2nd inning....so cool. Greg taped it--only Zach gets that lucky when he goes to major league games!

That is so awesome that he got to do that and that he won something and that it was played on the jumbo tron. What a neat trip. It's something Greg and Zach will remember forever!
